Graduated from UCSC 2012, BA in English Literature with a focus on pre and early modern texts.
650+ hours of formal experience as an SI at Ventura Community College, including one-on-one tutoring, small group (2-15) leadership. This job also included a number of classes on learning styles, instruction methods, and communication skills.
200+ Online tutoring and editing from the introduction to English (ESL) level to upper division formal university writing level
4.5 years as a soldier in the United States Army, including:
Graduating top of my class from AIT while also working with the rest of my class to achieve the highest aggregate average grade of any class in our field in the entire history of the school.
Experience as a junior NCO planning and conducting training exercises on a variety of subjects and preparing relevant learning materials.
My goal is to eventually teach writing and critical thinking at the community college or university level, so rather than working at an unrelated job, I would prefer to help others using the knowledge I have gained in my own studies, and work to improve my skills.

For what it is worth, my mother taught elementary school and junior high for many years, and I have spent a great deal of time absorbing the lessons she learned in her years of teaching to the best of my ability.
Depending on the needs of the person, I can be energetic and zany (for folks who need that energy to get excited about learning and love to move and learn by activity,) or quiet, disciplined, and utterly professional--or whatever mix is most effective.
