This course teaches students how to write in an effective and professional style that is appropriate for all types of technical writing whether for a research paper, proposal or article. At the center of this course is the cultivation of concise writing skills and an emphasis on tone.
Each class focuses on a specific aspect of technical writing. For example, students will learn the difference between the active and passive voice and how to use each one to write with objectivity for a methods section. Descriptive, argumentative and evocative styles are taught as necessary components toward writing on technical subjects in a professional manner.
