Education

Presently, in addition to teaching English as a host family in France, I also teach English in a local French Lycee and college (Secondary School or High School from ages 11 to 20).

I have found this change in career extremely rewarding and I have been able to make my lessons fun for the students through educational games, lively debates on topical subjects and personally engaging with the students.

Prior to moving to France, I worked largely within finance in Local Government for 20 years where I was also a designated trainer/teacher providing additional help and training staff on how to construct and write court summaries, letters and so on.

Further to the above, I have completed a 120 hour TEFL qualification which includes, amongst other categories, one to one teaching, teaching young learners and teaching English to business people.

I also hold a diploma in Natural Sciences and this background also enables me to provide Maths lessons.

Experience: 20 years

Your first 1 hour paid lesson - special price £5.

Discounts are available for multiple lesson bookings.

Speaking, reading and writing lessons suitable for beginners through to the more advanced student.

An example lesson for the intermediate English student - you may be asked to read an interesting article where I help you with pronunciation. Thereafter, we discuss the topic and you get a chance to summarise your understanding. Finally, you answer questions both orally and sometimes written, to test new vocabulary, spelling, comprehension and grammar.

A little bit about me and my family:

My family moved to France from England in 2011 to renovate our chateau and begin our new life. We have two young daughters who now speak fluent French and go to the local French school. For a living, we now host people aged between 7 and 24 in our home where I teach them English and provide them with a wholly traditional English experience. This has proved a very rewarding experience for the whole family.

Presently, in addition to teaching English as a host family in France, I also teach English in a local French Lycee and college (Secondary School or High School from ages 11 to 20).

Previously, I worked in Local Government in London for over 20 years which involved long commutes to and from work and often it was a difficult environment to work in. Hence, I was looking for a better life for our family and so our adventure in France began.

We enjoy the wonderful countryside, the great range of activities offered and, of course, the French wine!

My principal aim whilst teaching is to make it as interesting as possible. In my experience, this provides for a better learning experience and will keep you motivated.

We will discuss your requirements and tailor the lesson to suit your needs with the aim of engineering the lesson to be of most benefit to you.

If you decide to have lessons with me, I will do everything I can to ensure that it will be a friendly and enjoyable teaching/learning experience.
