Music: Composition; Theory; Western Music History; Piano/Keyboard; Violin
My qualifications include a PhD from Durham University in music composition (received in 1996) as well as first degrees both in music and in history. I have taught in various British institutions, including the Royal College of Music in London and Southampton University, and I have been teaching music privately for over 20 years (composition, theory, piano and violin).
Many pieces of mine have been performed professionally and I have received various commissions for new works. Presently, I am working on a CD of instrumental compositions of mine, which should be ready to release in a few months. I am also an experienced arranger and can provide custom arrangements of music, whatever the instruments and technical level of the performers.
Experience: 27 years
As a professional composer and musician, I can offer music teaching in music composition, music theory from the basics of reading music to advanced studies: four part harmony writing, function of advanced chords such as Neapolitan 6ths, and also western music history from the Renaissance to the modern period. Please see my webpage at www.englishmusicacademy.com for further information; additionally I have a website specifically for my compositional work at www.carcas.net where you can listen to several of my compositions.
Practical music teaching is offered both in piano/keyboard and violin.
