Native English speaker from New Zealand | Grammar, conversation, fluency
I have a CELTA certificate (Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) and a Bachelor of Arts in French and Art History. I have studied other languages myself, notably French and Italian, so I understand what it is like to be a learner, or to not understand!
I taught English for three years to children aged from 4-16 in New Zealand (native speakers), particularly those who needed extra material or who were struggling in school, so I'm accustomed to working with a variety of levels. I can teach any age group and level, and my priority is building your confidence with English so that you can apply it to any real-life situation.
Experience: 3 years
Hi there! My name is Sarah and I'm 21 from New Zealand, qualified to teach English to foreigners and have 3 years of experience as an English tutor to native speakers. I love travelling (I currently live in France - I know what learning a language is like!) and firmly believe that teaching and learning an international language like English is important for allowing communication and understanding between cultures.
Learning is all about enjoying yourself and feeling INTERESTED in your subject so that you absorb the content as much as possible, and this is what I aim to bring to the classes as a teacher. In a low-pressure environment, we can work on listening, speaking, writing, reading, conversation, grammar and anything in between, depending on YOUR needs. I will always aim to base lessons off interesting and relevant content, and to provide a variety of exercises with different focuses, e.g. accuracy vs fluency. I will also provide optional self-study so that you have a focus outside of classes to continue to progress.
I am passionate about teaching and would love to help you with your learning goals - as well as learn about your culture and you! Try out a 20 minute trial lesson - I can't wait to meet you and help you with your English!
