About me

Do you want to be a better writer?  Are you a busy person?

I've been helping students improve their English for 20 years. I'm a Canadian living in the UK, so I'm familiar with both British/American English.

These lessons are made for IELTS students, but can help anyone who wants to be a better writer, including the Cambridge FCE, CAE, and CPE exams. You can do the practice activities whenever you have time--at lunch, on the bus to work, Saturday afternoon in a cafe. Before each lesson, you’ll spend about 20 minutes reading notes and working on some exercises, and about 30 minutes writing. 

When we meet, I’ll give you lots of feedback on your writing, show you what you do right, and offer suggestions to overcome your weaknesses.

I will need 48 hours notice for the first lesson.

Before we meet for the first time, I have some questions and a short writing question for you.

I recommend that you work through one or  two lessons each week.  I believe that 3 lessons a week would too much work and would not leave you time to think about the new information or skills you are learning.

These lessons are designed to help you score a 6 on Task 2 of the IELTS.  Most people only need a 6 in the writing section, so students can save some time and energy for the other parts of the exam.  Remember that it takes about 6 months of study and work to improve one band.  

Lessons can take place in Buddy School, Skype, Google Hangouts, or by email.

I'm a qualified ESL teacher, with worldwide experience teaching business and academic students, as well as people who just enjoy learning the language.
