Two week, short-term contract teaching Upper Intermediate and Advanced level adult students. I taught 4 and 2 hour classes using Cambridge Advanced English, Destination B2 and Speakout textbooks. My time at A2Z English also included 2 days training in the Callan Method (Direct Method).
Nolli Logical Learning Institute (South Korea) Oct 2013 – Oct 2014
Main role: Teaching 50 minute classes, five days a week, to young learners, elementary, and middle school students.
Production of materials: Extensive experience creating supplementary class materials around a theme or a specific grammar point.
Grammar and phonemes
Student entry assessments: Assessing the language levels of new students for placement by means of a written sample and a short interview.
Exam preparation: Preparing older students for the TOEFL and NEAT exams - as well as general interview preparation.
Avalon English (South Korea) May 2012 – June 2013
Experience and responsibilities:
Main role: Teaching speaking, writing, and listening classes. Levels ranged from Elementary to Advanced.
Head foreign teacher: From November 2012 to May 2013, I was head foreign teacher for Avalon’s Haeundae Gu campus in Busan. My role involved liaising with management and training new foreign teachers.
Exam preparation: Preparing students for the TOEFL and NEAT exams. (In October 2012, I was sent to Seoul for a day long TOEFL and NEAT training course, during which I personally took both the examinations myself.)
One-on-one tuition: Weekly tuition sessions with students as part of TOEFL and NEAT exam preparation.
Debate and conversation class: For three semesters, I taught debate and discussion classes to Avalon’s highest level ‘Nojiwan’ (녹지원) class. During these lessons I often designed and produced original materials.
Editing: Proof reading and editing Avalon’s TOEFL text books, pre-publication.
guitar tuition 2004 – 2011
Between 2004 and 2011, I taught private guitar tuition to supplement my main income. During this time, I taught a diverse range of students of many different ages and backgrounds.

CELTA qualified instructor with a Master’s degree and over 2 years experience teaching general English, young learners, and exam preparation. Over 7 years of experience teaching private guitar tuition to pupils of all ages in the UK. A hardworking and passionate teacher with specific interests in English literature and traditional British folk music.
