Language Learning Concept (June2005- Aug 2013)
Self-employed ESL/French and German Instructor
My primary focus was in instructing English as a second language to participants in various settings, domains and for different purposes. Furthermore I have had exposure of teaching French and German as a second language at public school level and privately; conducted workshops; moderated and assessed teacher trainees on a registered TESOL course in preparation to their final practical exam.
Providing a classroom presence and contributing to the positive ethos of the learner setting. Putting participants first by demonstrating energy, vision and creativity.
Experience: 10 years
Native English teacher with an MA in ‘English Language Teaching’ embracing cultural diversity. My background attests this, by having lived in Canada, Germany, Turkey and the UK.
Raised in Canada with English being my native and first language I soon also learnt French as my second language. In the 1980s I immigrated to Germany and learnt German as my third language.
Therefore as a teacher I offer an in-depth understanding of the challenges associated with learning languages.
Over the past ten years I have encountered many different learner types/styles in the private as well as the public sector and have adapted programs to respond to learners’ individual needs. My main objective is to provide the learner with an interactive, positive, stimulating, dynamic learning environment and to provide material for the various learner types/styles and to ensure effective learning transpires and grows. I am equipped with techniques to provide solutions to language training to enable the maximum learners’ benefit is generated.
In essence, I follow the ‘learning by doing’ principle and to enable the learner to become fully conversant and confident in using the language.
