Learn Spanish Through Conversation
I have a Master's Degree in Conference Interpreting from York University in Toronto, Canada, a Diploma in Voice Studies from Canada's National Voice Intensive and a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. I've taught Spanish for 10 years, including beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.
Experience: 10 years
My name is Paulina, I'm a certified native Spanish speaker. I have ten years experience teaching Spanish to beginner, intermediate and advanced students. One of the best ways to learn Spanish is by practicing your speaking skills. Most Spanish classes tend to focus on grammar and comprehension skills, and don't leave enough time for conversation.
This class is a great option for students who are already enrolled in an Spanish grammar class and want more time to practice their speaking skills or for students who already have a foundation in Spanish grammar and would like to practice what they have learned.
Although this a conversation class there are certain principles I adhere to that help to guide the learning process. First of all, Spanish is the only language that is spoken for the entire duration of the class. Each class will focus on a topic, for example movies, current events, sports, travelling. I have a list of topics to work with and we can also focus on specific topics that are relevant for you. I will ask a question to get the conversation going, this is a great opportunity for you to practice listening and responding. I will help you correct grammar mistakes and answer any questions you may have about grammar rules.
I create an environment where students can feel safe and comfortable trying new things out, making mistakes and exploring their skills. This is the best way to learn! This is a safe environment where you don't have to worry about being judged or what others might think. This conversation class will help you develop confidence and ease when speaking Spanish.
