"logic" word is derived from latin word "logos". It has two meanings-Thought and Word . When we get any situations our mind becomes active and starts thinking to solve that situations .When he gets solution he expresses it with the words.Logic tells us some laws through which we can reach true knowledge.
According to Hamilton," Logic is the science of the formal laws os thoughts."
Logic is an indirect knowledge which depends on direct knowledge. For example-
Ram isa man.
All men are mortal.
so, Ram is mortal.
In this example we know that all men are mortal. So we conclude that Ram is mortal because Ram is a man.
so Logic has three constitutents.
There are some series of mental expression in our mind. These expressions are similiar to our practical world.and we believe on this similiarity. We say that our thoughts are true or false . Thoughts can be truthe by two methods-
Formal Logic , Material Logic
I n formal Logic we follow only laws of form. For example, This is one law of categorical syllogism that there should be only three preopsitions and three terms. If our syllogism followthis rule .It is called formal Logic. But our syllogism followe above rule and is equivalent to our practical world. .It iscalled material Logic.
In logic we make prepositions. preposition is true and false and sentences are pure and impure. sentence are exclamatory, relative, questioner but prepositions are only indictive and has subject, predicate and copula.
This is logic which is a part of philosophy.Logic is not finished here.It has reasoning ,some scientific methods also.KIndly keep in touch with me.
