If we start as far back as I can remember, I got my GCSEs in England about 12 years ago, then my A-Levels about 10 years ago, also in England. I stayed in England and attained my BA (with Honours) in English and Creative Writing.

I decided moving abroad would be a good idea for my next educational adventure, so I worked towards and received my MA in English Literature and Culture from the University of Amsterdam.

I still hadn't finished travelling and experiencing the world and its various educational systems, so I went to South Africa, where I got my formal teaching qualifications, with distinction. Since then, I've been working in a school here in South Africa.

Home always calls out to me though, and in May 2017 I will be heading to Manchester, UK, where I'll be hopefully beginning a PhD (but keeping up with the teaching, of course).

So, where does that leave me? Well, it leaves me as a formally qualified teacher, qualified to teach Home Language and Additional Language English. It leaves me as an expert creative writer, happy to help teaching in this field as well. It leaves me passionate about my subject and my language, and passionate enough that I've not yet given up learning even more about it.

Experience: 3 years

About me

I'm a highly qualified teacher happy to help anyone out with whatever aspects of that most bizarre language, English, they require. From the earliest learners of the language to the adept speaker wanting to advance their knowledge of the language and the culture, I'm happy to cover it all.

I don't do 'identikit' lessons. I ensure that your lesson is prepared just for, well, you! With your help, your lessons with me will be consistently challenging, thought provoking, correct, and, perhaps most importantly, interesting.

Being from the UK, and having lived abroad for many years, I have a clear accent, and a simple, yet effective, turn of phrase.

Teaching is something I feel I was born to do, and I know that should you choose to enter into an edcational partnership with me, you won't be disappointed.
