A.P. Environmental Biology
B.A. biology, Yale University
M.S. marine science, University of Delaware
Experience: 15 years
I'm an experienced teacher and have taught A.P. environmental science in addition to biology. I also worked for nearly ten years as an environmental advocate on a wide range of issues.
I can go deeper into certain environmental issues than textbooks often do, including eutrophication and anoxia, the carbon cycle, climate change, and more. My specialty is big picture thinking. The best way to learn these topics is from the outside in, starting with large causes (excess nutrient input) and ending at specific effects (anoxia in the Gulf of Mexico.)
As an individual, I have a strong environmental protection ethic. However, my background has given me experience in viewing and teaching environmental issues from the perspective of a wide variety of stakeholders.
