I have always considered that one of the most rewarding parts of studying sciences is to share your knowledge with other people. As a consequence, during the past three years, I was a (head) counsellor at PROMYS and PROMYS Europe, a summer program in Mathematics for high school students. Throughout these years I had the opportunity to work with a lot of students from different backgrounds (US, Asia and Europe). I, therefore, learnt to be patient and attentive, and I understood that the best way to work with a student is by personalising the material around their interests and needs.
My relationship with Mathematics and Computer Science has a long history: I was only 11 years old when I participated in my first international competition - and that was only the beginning. During those years, I had the opportunity of working with a lot of brilliant minds, who helped me discover the hidden maths behind our world. I therefore found the connections between mathematics and music, fine arts or literature, and became very interested in these fields. I am also a tennis fan, and enjoy playing this sport from time to time.
I consider that the most important thing in working with students is to identify their strengths and weaknesses, and use them in their favour. I am planning to develop a curricula for each particular student and follow it until we reach our goal. At the beginning of each session, we will set an objective together, and we will work towards it.
Experience: 3 years
I am a fourth year student at the University of Oxford, reading Mathematics and Computer Science. I can teach Mathematics at any level.
