My expertise in IELTS teaching was acknowledged in 2011 when I became an IELTS Course Manager at the largest test centre in Europe. I designed and developed IELTS preparation courses that were taught Monday to Saturday, between 9am and 9pm. I supported and managed a team of 12 teachers.
I was asked to co-design a unique IELTS Teacher Training course for English teachers wishing to gain confidence with IELTS preparation courses. This practical course concentrated on teaching the four IELTS skills as well as vocabulary and grammar, and also included the course planning component. The course got accredited at level 5, which placed it between the renowned CELTA and DELTA teaching qualifications.
I was invited by IELTS UK to teach a taster IELTS reading session – Approaches to Teaching Skimming in IELTS - during a Language Fair in Kensington Olympia, which was a great success. I was also asked to share my expertise in delivering a workshop on teaching IELTS writing skills with a group of teachers at a prestigious school in Ascot.
In early 2014, I became a freelancer. I continue to teach and design bespoke online IELTS and OET preparation courses and work as a consultant and teacher trainer for IELTS.

Hi, I’m Emilia,
I have been teaching English to foreigners since 2003 in London, UK. I’m fascinated by the vibrant diversity this city has to offer and I’ve taught students from over 77 countries over the years.
In early 2009, I developed a passion for IELTS preparation when I had to take the test myself and make sure my overall score was 9.
In the process, I got insights into what it means to have to prepare for this notorious test. I tried and tested different approaches and techniques until I found what works best.
My IELTS preparation approach stems from the blend of being a non-native English teacher, an educational coach and an IELTS candidate under a tremendous pressure to perform well in the test. In other words, I’ve been through it all and I’m sharing my experience as a student, exam taker, teacher and teacher trainer. Everything you learn with me is deeply rooted in experience – the knowledge I share with you doesn’t come from an answer key in an IELTS course book.
Soon after the test, I designed bespoke IELTS Preparation courses and started teaching students at intermediate and advanced levels, even native speakers.
I’m particularly fond of IELTS Reading and I believe that the deep understanding of its structure as well as the reading strategies, combined with structured practice, is a sure way of achieving high scores. What’s more, this greatly helps improve writing, and, surprisingly, supports candidates’ performance during speaking and listening tests.
I’m looking forward to working with you!
Emilia Jagnieża M.A., DELTA, QTS
PS. I also work as a life coach helping my students eliminate exam stress, build their confidence, remove any blocks that stand in the way of learning and being successful with exams. I also specialise in helping people find their purpose and make major life decisions like choosing a career path or an area of study. Please get in touch if you’re looking for this kind of support you don’t have to do it alone.
How our lessons work:

We can connect through a special, high quality platform that I use for teaching online classes and 1-2-1 sessions (we can see and hear each other, type questions and answers in chat box and you can see my bespoke lesson materials) – I will send you a link. Skype is also a possibility.
I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you want to reschedule a class, please contact me more than 24 hours before. If not, you will be charged.
I have a good and stable internet connection, but if I have problems with it, I will be happy to stop the class and reschedule for another day/time.
