Education

I have worked as a journalist since the turn of the century. I have worked in corporate communication, I have been a social media manager and I have been a blogger. I have written on business, politics, society and new media. These experiences have given me multiple insights into journalism in particular.

Experience: 15 years

About me

Journalism is an ever evolving profession, especially now in the social media and 'post-truth' era. Traditional media such as newspapers, radio and television seem to be losing audiences to the new types of media. Does that mean that anybody with a mobile phone and a camera is now a journalist?

Amidst the changes we see in mass communication, there's the growing realization that the role of the trained, professional journalist is crucial in combating the fake news phenomenon. The world needs people that can identify the right sources, people that understand society, and people that can present information in an easily understandable, neutral approach that doesn't inflame negative emotions among the public.

As I pursue my Masters, it has occured to me the need to share my knowledge with other students.  I am available to respond to your questons with regards to the field of journalism.
