About me

I am a native English speaker from Canada. I was born in Saskatoon. I have a TESOL certificate and bachelor's degree in International Relations from the University of London. I have been living and teaching English in Thailand for over 12 years. I can adapt lessons to my students wants and needs. I specialize in one on one natural conversational English and test preparation, but I can teach almost anything related to English including:

-Indepth customized coverage of IELTS, TOEFL IBT/PBT, and TOEIC

-SAT (Reading section and writing and language section of the test)

-Interview preparation (university or work)

-Conversation with a focus on confidence in speaking and listening effectively in English

-Vocabulary

-Pronunciation and phonics

-Advanced Academic English: writing, presentations, thesis defense, entrance interview  

-Business English including emails and presentations

-Grammar

Approximately 90% of my students have been able to obtain the IELTS scores they needed in order to enter into the university of their choosing (scores ranging from 5-7.5 overall). I enjoy teaching and learning new things. This is adapted to my lessons. My natural curiousity allows for a basis for conversation. The student can explain their interests and passions to me and I am genuinely interested. This allows for the best possible interaction and the most opportunity for the student to speak A LOT. I often have many questions for students which give them plenty of real opportunities to express themselves. As we go along, I may offer corrections and can teach from mistakes, but if fluency is the primary focus, I just let the student speak. The approach of my teaching is it is up to the student :-)
