Learn to Sing and Read Music in a FUN way (Kids and Adults with ALL Abilities)
I taught Musical Theater to kids 5-15 for 5 years. Through this experience I have taught kids with all abilities (including Down's syndrome, ADHD, and Asbergers). I ran educational games, taught vocals, and cast and directed the musicals. I am good at making lessons both fun and educational.
I have sung in competitive choirs for 16 years. I have toured around the world with these choirs and sang in venues including Lincoln Center, Davies Symphony Hall, and Disney Concert Hall. At UCLA, I was a member of both UCLA Chorale (in which I was a section leader) and UCLA Chamber singers. I started taking sight singing classes at the age of 9. I passed The AP Music Theory exam as well as Aced my Music Theory classes. Additionally, at UCLA, I vocal directed the musical Anything Goes and Assistant Vocal Directed the musical The Little Mermaid. I sung with my Deviant Voices A Cappella for 4 years and served as President, Vice President, and Co-Music Director during this time. During both of these experiences, I met with ensemble members who needed a little extra help for as long as they needed.
Experience: 17 years
I am offering fun singing and music lesson to kids and adults of all abilities. During these hectic times durign the pandemic, I know it is difficult to find ways to entertain your kids or yourself, when so many typical tactics are no longer available. I will adapt my lessons to fit your needs and wants. I have experience teaching students with special needs, as well as kids of all ages and college students of all experience levels. I can incorporate games into lessons to make them more engaging or I can make lessons fast paced for very motivated students. A base lesson can include warm ups, sight singing/music theory practice, and Vowel work. We can also target specific songs and improvement areas. I'm so excited to meet you and to start our singing journey together!
