Conversational English (Especially for Travelers) :)
Hello! My name is Lia and I'm approaching my last semester at Ithaca College in New York. My degree is a B.A. in Documentary Studies and Production and my minor is in Education. My major is basically a mix of documentary film and journalism.
I have completed a 120-hour Advanced TEFL course as well as a 30-hour Teaching English Online course through Premier TEFL. After I graduate, I plan to teach English in Korea and Cambodia.
I have worked part-time in retail for the last 6 years, so I get along well with people of all ages and from all kinds of backgrounds! I've also started learning many languages and have travelled a lot, so I understand the struggles of learning new languages and feeling lost while travelling. I studied abroad in Korea for over 6 months, and have been to Italy, Cambodia, Thailand, China, Canada and Mexico.
I have also practiced helping people with their English through the app HelloTalk for the past few years through language exchanges.
Experience: 0 years
Do you want to travel to English speaking countries, but don't feel confident in your speaking skills?
I can totally understand that feeling of helplessness when you're in a foreign country. If this is something you're interested in, I'm here to help! While traveling and living in Korea, there were many times when I wished my speaking skills were more advanced, and because I was lacking, it was sometimes hard (or uncomfortable) to get around by myself.
I feel like in school we focus too much on the textbook material, and memorizing grammar. While grammar is important, I believe that the ability to apply what you learn to REAL LIFE situations is more important. If you want to learn some basic English phrases and vocabulary that will apply to situations you'll face while traveling, then I'm a good match for you!
I'm most confident in being able to help with English for travelers; however, I am open to conversational English of any topic that you're interested in. In addition to these options, if there's anything specific you need help with, I will also try my best to help you.
If you're interested in any of the following topics, please feel free to book a lesson with me:
