About me

Julia Sims is an actor, director, and teaching artist from Philadelphia, PA. She holds a degree in theatre and acting from Temple University, where she was trained by professional actors in the industry such as Amina Robinson (Precious, 2009) and Cheryl Williams (Silver Linings Playbook, 2012). Her favorite roles include: Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Babette in The Arsonists, and Violet in Prude. She’s directed three plays, a web series pilot, and various scenes throughout her college career. She has been teaching acting classes for all ages at John Casablancas Acting & Modeling Center for a year, along with working as a classroom actor for Philadelphia Young Playwrights for the past year. She also worked as a teaching assistant for an online “Acting for the Camera” class based in Seattle, and is currently a teaching assistant for an online "How To Audition" class with the same company.

The theater techniques Julia uses to teach acting and coach monologues include: Stanislavski, Meisner, Uta Hagen, and Michael Chekhov. In private coaching sessions, Julia will help you with monologue selection if needed, monologue breakdown, character breakdown, performance techniques, exercises, and much more. Julia's students leave with not only better monologues for auditions, but also a more in-depth understanding of acting.
