Hello, my name is Jacques Absil. I am a 28-year-old South African business consultant by profession. I am, however, looking to explore new avenues and have recently completed my Level 5 (300 Hours) TEFL Diploma. I am a (B.Com) business graduate from the University of North-West, seeking to teach business English online. I have also completed my lean / six sigma process engineering and SQL Database management courses. I have extensive experience in consulting and training in non-native English speaking countries such as Mozambique and Kenya. I have demonstrated practical experience and I have a wide understanding of the business environment with my dealings at all business levels (entry - board) for global brands & financial institutes such as Barclays Bank through my consultancy.

I was head trainer and lead consultant for the process improvement department at Gemini Advantage Consulting, which gave me the opportunity to teach new consultants our process and consultancy methodologies.

Experience: 4 years

About me

I have a very active teaching style and act as your personal coach and mentor, both in terms of language & business skills development.

My teaching philosophy is based on my personal teaching objectives, which is making teaching relatable, enjoyable and specific for students needs. These objectives are aligned to my overall goal for my students: creating confidence in communicating in a professional manner.

This is achieved by a dual phased approach in my Business English teaching methodology. Firstly, we look at Language skills development by introducing and empowering students with the correct language tools and framework in terms of Grammar, Vocabulary and proficiency in the 4 skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking).

The language skills development is then further integrated with work-based skills development lesson, which, after a thorough investigation and analysis in the student's job role and activities will yield the specific on-the-job tasks to be performed and the skills to be applied. A blend of team-based learning (segmented in their natural work teams/departments) and task-based learning (encapsulating the specific on-the-job tasks they will be performing) based on the use of authentic materials that makes the learning process relatable and will gear the student to apply the language skills in real-world scenarios and will naturally develop critical thinking in both their language and work-based skills development.

The first Lesson I usually spend getting to know you personally, your job role, and your goals and objectives in terms of the business language skills you want to develop and how you can apply these skills on your everyday work life.

I hope to assist you in achieving your goals, if it's getting that new job, acing the English interview for an international company, developing your negation or customer service skills, book your lesson for your first step to success.
